Free Insulation for Homeowners and Renters

The Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd recently announced a new rebate scheme whereby Homeowners and Renters have insulation batts installed in their homes free. The key points of the plan are:

• $1200.00 insulation rebate for Homeowners.

• Applies to Australian Citizens’ with existing homes, who currently do not have ceiling insulation.

• Available for a limited period of two and a half years (expected to end June 2011).

The Government media release stated ‘Insulation is typically the most cost effective way to improve a homes energy efficiency’.

The scheme is a fantastic opportunity for homeowners to have up to $1200 worth of insulation installed in their homes free of charge. Once installed, households could save around $200 per year on their energy bills, as well as improving the comfort and value of their homes.

By utilising the scheme and insulating their homes, homeowners will be assisting the Government to deliver on commitments under the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme.

The Government has indicated this initiative could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 49 million tonnes by 2020, equivalent to taking more than 1 Million cars off the road.

Creating energy efficient homes is a key element of the governments $42 Billion Nation Building and Jobs Plan, supporting up to 90,000 Australian Jobs over the next two years.
